Hello Audio,
is it possible to split the big file in individual wav files and burn them in cds to play in a cd player. Did they provide a cue sheet along with that file?
Thanks.

Mozart Serenades - Scottish Chamber Orchestra

Produced by LINN Records
purchased as a download: Studio Master FLAC 24-Bit 88.2kHz 1,205.2 MB

This is the 1st time I bought music this way from the internet. After the download, burnt the DVD-R at 2x that I play on a DVD player & decode via Accuphase DC-801 processor.

Mind-blowing performance, breathtaking recording! :clapping:
Nice!
So, the new era of music purchase has begun.
How much did the D/L cost?

Hi Mahi
The files audio_engr downloaded were 24 bit 96khz files. So if burned as an audio cd it would be converted to 16 bit 44khz
One will have to make a DVD-A to keep the bitrate same as source files

hi Audio and rikhav,
thanks for the reply.when you say it will be downsampled where is the problem actually. Is it the wav as a format cannot handle 24 bit 96khz or it is mandatory for audio cd burning software to truncate the sampling frequency or a normal cd player simply cannot handle it.
Thanks.

Mahiruha:

Audio CD is 16Bit @ 44.1kHz. The moment you burn a CDR as an "Audio-CD", by default, it would be 16/44.1. WAV is also 16Bit @ 44.1kHz. So, to any FLAC files, if you select to convert to WAV or Audio-CD, irrespective of the original resolution, it will output to 16Bit 44.1kHz.

Linn Records sell their recordings in the following manner:
1. Compact Disc at GBP 13
2. CD Quality 16Bit 44.1kHz FLAC at GBP 10
3. CD Quality 16Bit 44.1kHz WMA at GBP 10
4. STUDIO MASTER 24Bit 88.2kHz FLAC at GBP 18
5. STUDIO MASTER 24Bit 88.2kHz WMA at GBP 18
6. MP3 320K at GBP 8.00

Since I purchased Studio Master paying a higher price, making an Audio-CD where the 24Bit 88.2kHz would become 16Bit 44.1kHz is foolish and a loss. Hence, it was burnt on a DVD-R to make a "DVD-Audio" or DVD-A, retaining 24Bit 88.2kHz that Universal players can read.

Hi Audio,
thanks for the explnation. so if get this file and burn it in a DVD R and play it in my CA azur 540D V2 dvd player as a dvd should I get 24Bit 88.2kHz output from the dedicated stereo out which is connected to my amplifier?
Thnaks.

Hi Mahi
Yes your CA dvd player will play provided its a universal player and plays DVD-a
Another issue would be getting a software to burn DVD-A

There are some albums on the Linn site which are recorded at 24 bit 192khz

Also if you are making a music PC you can directly play these files from the PC at the recorded bitrate and wont have issues with burning on other media
I am not sure which is the best software to play FLACS
