Listening to All the Road Running - Mark Knopfler and Emmylou Harris.

Amazing songs and vocals and excellent recording quality.

Thanks for the recommendation to go and buy it.

4. Ev1s- Found a new found love for Rock'n'Roll. I'm really loving this genre now. Now I know what I was missing. Can someone please suggest me some more Rock'n'Roll kind of songs/albums? Must not be missed songs by Elvis?
Regards,

Hey KonfuSed,

Just noticed this post. Most of the "best" Elvis songs can be found in the Masters collection. There are three collections:

1. 50's - Amazon.com: The King of Rock 'n' Roll: The Complete 50's Masters: Elvis Presley: Music
2. 60's - Amazon.com: From Nashville to Memphis: The Essential 60's Masters: Elvis Presley: Music
3. 70's - Amazon.com: Walk a Mile in My Shoes: The Essential 70's Masters: Elvis Presley: Music

Unfortunately these series have been discontinued and it is very difficult to buy them new. However, you may get lucky if you look around in music stores.

While Elvis more or less created the modern Rock genre, he was not a strict Rock'n'roll singer. He mixed many styles - country, hillbilly, gospel, blues et al. And he also improvised songs from other artists as well. For example, Blue suede shoes was originally sung by Carl Perkins but Elvis improvised it and took it to a completely different level!

Some very good Elvis songs:

50's
1. Heartbreak hotel
2. That's alright mama
3. Jailhouse rock
4. Love me tender (vocals with just guitar)
5. Mystery train
6. Money honey
7. Blue suede shoes
8. All shook up
9. Treat me nice
10. Dixieland rock

60's
1. Stuck on you
2. Fame and fortune
3. Fever
4. Such a night
5. Are you lonesome tonight
6. His latest flame
7. Kiss me quick
8. Don't cry daddy
9. In the ghetto
10. Suspicious minds
11. It's now or never
12. Kentucky rain

70's
1. Always on my mind
2. Wonder of you
3. And the next step is love
4. I just can't help believing - you can also listen to the original BJ Thomas version for comparison:)
5. My way - you must listen to this and pay attention to the lyrics
6. See see rider
7. Unchained melody
8. Steamroller blues
9. I've got a thing about you baby
10. Until it's time for you to go
11. Burning love
12. Sweet caroline
13. Walk a mile in my shoes

Sorry about the long post, but then Elvis had sung more than 850 songs (including alternative takes et al)! Let me know after you have listened to some of the songs and I can point to you a lot more of his songs!

I wish I was in India for I would have "gifted" some CD's to you;)

Indeed I have :) Elvis is one of my all time favorites too. Chris Isaak is another musician I really like from this genre.

Thanks unleash_me. Will try Chris Isaak as well.

At the risk of starting a flame war, may I ask which version of Always on my mind did you like the best - Elvis Presley or Willie Nelson?
