Right now I am listening to ...

Awesome! Beats gifting oneself CDs hands down! Belated Happy Birthday to you!
You are right: to have one's favourite artist perform in one's favourite hall, and to be able to share that with everybody else was awesome beyond belief!

Smt Vedavalli has not given any more concerts in Chennai since that date, but I was able to see/hear her student (pictured above giving vocal support) in an excellent concert just a couple of days ago.

Great video - Petty & Lynne are in great form & a superb solo by Prince! Try out Jeff Healys While my guitar gently weeps on Youtube.

This is one track which elevated Prince as a serious - no, make that genius - guitarist in my esteem. It was easy to dismiss him earlier (as a guitarist) due to his rather gimmicky guitar. This guy's a certifiable genius.

Well, this is just one video that became quite famous I suppose. Try listening to some of his early albums, they are fantastic in my opinion.

@grubyhalo
Princes musical output is enormous and miles ahead of his contemporaries! He had more hits than misses. The guy never tires of experimenting. Great video - Petty & Lynne are in great form & a superb solo by Prince! Try out Jeff Healys While my guitar gently weeps on Youtube.

Thanks for the link.

Any pointers to must have albums from his latter days. I have most of his old stuff - 1999, Batman soundtrack (the Micheal Keaton movie), Purple Rain but kind of stopped following him in the early 90s after he became a symbol and began to release albums in quick succession to get out of contract with Warner Bros.

I would start with his Hits 1 & 2...
