Hey thanks. Mostly from abroad bro. And no I don't have the biggest collection of music here or anywhere else. I'm just sharing what I have which is about 800-900 odd CDs. I personally know people who have 1000 to 1200 CDs on this very forum but they will never post like me. I even have a friend (not on this forum) with some 3000 odd CDs. Compared to such people my collection is pretty limited actually.

But still compared to many of us like me having 900 cds is also quiet big and the hassle of storing and managing them is a different thing all together.

Ha ha. Well I actually started collecting CDs from the early 1980s when I was a kid. Let's assume that was 25 years ago considering its 2009 now. Let's assume 900 CDs. 900/25 = 36 CDs per year or 3 CDs per month. This I'm sure is not such a great feat and certainly possible to anyone. I'm sure anyone having a DVD or a CD collection would go about it this way. Buying in bulk is certainly not affordable to most people.

This is for lovers of old Hindi Film songs.

(1) I was searching for a rare song sung as a duet my Mohd. Rafi and Talat Mehmood. The song is one of just three songs sung by this pair. This song is from the 1966 film Susheela and has the opening lyrics - Gham Ki Andheri Raat Maine Dil Ko Na Bekaraar Kar, Subha Jaroor Aayego, Subha Ka Intizar Kar.

The Lyrics were scripted by Jan Nisar Akhter, and the song rendered beautifully by Rafi and Talat. Their voices so well suit their roles in the song, it is uncanny. Talat sings the dark side with a frightened and wavering voice. Rafi sings the bright part with a string and steady voice. If you have not heard this song please do listen to it at YouTube - Talat & Rafi sing Together Ghum ki Andheri Raat (with Extra Stanza) Film Susheela.

Here are the lyrics of the 1st two stanzas:

Rafii: Gam Kii A.Ndherii Raat Me.N
Dil Ko Na Beqaraar Kar
Subah Zaruur Aayegii
Subah Ka Intazaar Kar
Gam Kii A.Ndheri Raat Me.N

Talat: Dard Hai Saarii Zindagi
Jisakaa Koi Silaa Nahii.N
Dil Ko Fareb Dijiye
Aur Ye Hausalaa Nahii.N \- 2

Rafii: Khud Se To Badagumaa.N Na Ho
Khud Pe To Aitabaar Kar
Subah Zaruur Aayegii
Subah Ka Intazaar Kar
Gam Kii Andheri Raat Me.N

Talat: Khud Hii Ta.Dap Ke Rah Gaye
Dil Ki Sadaa Se Kyaa Milaa
Aag Se Khelate Rahe
Ham Ko Vafaa Se Kyaa Milaa \- 2

Rafii: Dil Ki Lagii Bujhaa Na De
Dil Ki Lagii Se Pyaar Kar
Subah Zaruur Aayegii
Subah Ka Intazaar Kar

(2) When I was searching for the above song, I came across another gem. Usually I get very irritated when I hear anybody singing Rafi's songs. I have not come across one singer who can do justice to Rafi's voice or his way of singing. But what about Talat Mehmood singing a song of Rafi? And By God, how well he sings this famous song.... YouTube - Talat Mahmood sings a song of Rafi - with Rare Talat Photos

(3) I was also quite pleasantly surprised that during the intial days of Kishore Kumar as an actor, most of his songs were sung by Rafi. Wow!!

Cheers
