Sony has announced that it has ceased production of cassette based Walkmans in Japan. The final batch was manufactured in April 2010, and once theyre gone, theyre gone. It will still continue to use the brand on CD, Minidisc and flash-based models.

A good read for the interested.

I regret I never owned a Sony walkman. I had a Philips model, and I had a post-Sony-takeover Aiwa model as well. Which got stolen by someone in my first year of law school. I cursed that person so much I can't tell you. I couldn't tell my parents that I'd lost my walkman within 6 months of joining law school.
