Folks,

This i my first thread i hope i put it the right way. I am from Bangalore.

Recently i decided to buy a good home threater system. I did bit of a research and put few things together.

I have a Samsung LCD LA46B650

Living room: 20 ft x 15 ft

Purpose: 60% for music (mostly metal, rock and Gospel) and 40% movies.

Things i thought is good are;

AVR: Yamaha RX-V667
Speakers :
2 Tower Speakers: TSi 300 (Polk)
1 PSW 110 woofer (Polk)
1 center CS 10 (Polk)
2 Surround TSI 100 (Polk)

All you experts out there i need your help to make this a reality. Please help me with these points;

1. Firstly, should i by this with a local dealer in Bangalore or is it okay to buy from Broderlinx?
2. The components i ahve put together is it good and there any gaps or not a wise decission to buy any or all the components. Please suggest alternates.
3. Also help with the best price in Bangalore
4. Is this good for the living room size?

Hi Richard,

My personal opinion is to get the receiver from US as they are so damn cheap there. But of course you need to bother about the service and power-supply coz there will be no warranty but the money you save is worth it.

Have a check on what price you are getting it here and how much it will cost you from US with offers ;) .... the rest depends on ur luck .....

But, speakers ... just not worth importing it. They are cheaper here and you will get the service. Choice of speakers depends entirely on your liking. So, never go by reviews. Audition everything that you shortlist and then buy it. BTW Polk is good for Movies .... For Music people here prefer Warfedale .... Spend sometime in the speaker section ... u will get all the needed info before u start auditioning ... Good Luck

You can get it through Borderlinx, Shopyourworld, ICCworld .... Just search in the forum and read the experiences of those who have used their services....

I am not very sure if Polk speakers are so cheap specially the models you specified. You can find if not same but better deals here local. Get the AVR from abroad. But 667 with polk tsi300s ... you shld be looking lil more power hungry speakers..May be RTI series.

Firstly, among denon 1911, Onkyo 608 and Yamaha 667 which one can be chosen as best among them?

The purpose is to use this for movies and music. I am quite a Voracious music listener. I was thinking if it is a sane idea to have front 2 tower speakers on Warfedale and remaining on polk. Will this help for both movie and music.

Please let know the ballpark best price to buy these AVR and speakers.

question: Yamaha AVR is about 93 watt per channel. Is it good to buy speakers with rating above 93 watts or less. My understanding is, if the speakers are rated above the AVR per channel rating, speakers draw more power from the AVR.

Polk TSI300 will cost you around 15K and TSI400 around 25K in bangalore .... Got this from Pro Audiotronics .....

Hi Kittu ..... Its Pro Audiotronics in Infantry Road ..... That was the price 2 months back after a bit of negotiation .... But he was not sure about the availability of TSI 300. I was more interested in TSI400 which he was quoting at around 25K ....

I am not sure if he included the VAT and all but I think it was kind of final price .... :)

Hi Raju ..... you r welcome :)

There are die hard fans of all the 3 receivers you have specified .... I am thinking how come you did not mention Pioneer 1020K in this .... :o

BTW when I was doing the research sometime back the best rated and appreciated (among the ones you ve specified) was the Onkyo 608 .... which stood out of all because it is feature-rich, VFM and Reliable ....

The other 2 just behind due to Denon being a bit pricy and Yamaha - 667 casually having certain technical issues (HDMI comapatibility etc) .....

But, Denon and Yamaha have their fan-following who will always believe in their products like I believe in Dettol ;)

So, read some good reviews and decide ... My Vote for Onkyo - 608 ....

How does Denon 1911 at Rs.39000 sound? is it a fair price? I got this from profx on M.G Road. Still not tried the insane bargaining.

I am in too for TSI 300 for 15k (a pair ofcourse). auditioned them [for my SR608] at profx blr and they are decently ok. price quoted was 21k w/o any negotiation. he mentioned it was negotiable when sitting across the table. cant expect more than 10% on that. any other sources to get these at lesser price, welcome.

if its at 15k for a pair then even i am in. dont worry about my location, will ask my brother in bangalore to pick it up.
i am all in for Polk Audio TSi300 Floorstanding Speaker @ Rs. 15000 for a pair (not single)

Hi kittu, pp, denzong ....

Have been trying to contact the concerned guy but somehow his mobile is switched off .. probably on on a vacation ..... will anyhow get the update tomorrow ... will drop down at the shop tomorrow and post the current price ...

But u guys should seriously consider TSI 400 as well... when I auditioned both; TSI400 clearly stood out of both and the extra 10K is really worth ...

Thanks Bud, but 15k is my budget can extend to 16k but 24k lil over budget now.... 21k mrp tsi 300 so 15k after discount ,tsi400 29k mrp after discount 23k .. is that math correct :p
