SACD sound quality

I used Qobuz.com for buying legal downloads. This site also has high-rez files (for example the Steely Dan Gaucho album is excellent in high rez). Some sites have got into trouble for faking high rez. It needs to have been recorded in high rez for your to get a studio master quality download. Qobuz gives you quite a range of options for formats to download, and this one along with many other legal sites give you the lesser quality downloads free (for example MP3) if you purchase a higher rez quality download.
By the way, Linnrecords (Linn Records - The best recordings in Studio Master Download, Vinyl and SACD) has a very good explanation of the different download formats for anyone who is interested.

I should mention that Qobuz is a French site, but there is a translation option on the top right. You also need to contact their customer service to set up an account that lets you download in India. To reiterate, this is a completely legit site and you need to pay for the downloads.

I know he is asking about high resolution audio and sacd and the likes. I post about flipkart because he asked about download links like songs.pk. I just wanted to inform that one can download songs legally.

Yes, Staxxx,

Thank you for ur reply,

Yes, I saw that.

60% of my listening is Indian music which includes a good dose of bollywood. While there is no way to get pristine quality from most bollywood titles, a good musical setup goes a long way in improving the listening experience to a level where you stop caring about the inferiority, a bit like getting into partial trance like state. Try to get that quality in your setup and you will be happy. Moreover a good setup will also encourage you to experimentally listen to a much wider variety of music and develop tastes for my new genres and artists. Many of them will have good/great recordings so your cravings for hi rez sound will be satisfied by those ones. After a certain stage, you will have a good mix of all kinds of music and recordings so it will come down to mood of the evening :).

So the industry does not seem to be moving towards dsd recording gear. Until every little studio is seen investing in it one should not bother spending on sacd transports

Sent from mobile on a crappy keyboard. Pls excuse typos.

Playing SACDs on CA BD 651, you won't get to hear any of the hidden qualities of this SACD medium. For that, one has to elevate to much higher category devices that make the difference to a medium like SACD / DSD.

The best one can do in your situation is to take the SPDIF Coax OUT from the CA 651 and plug it into the Naim's Digital input and let the PCM signal route thru the Naim, taking advantage of better processing and superior analog output of the Naim.

However, SACD discs CANNOT be played as the Naim doesn't handle/process DSD signals while your CA 651 doesn't output DSD in digital. So, for playback of SACDs, you'll have to move via analog out from the CA BD 651.

Coming to SACD discs and the recording, IMHO to take the proper advantage of this medium, one needs to listen to Discs that were originally recorded using DSD and then they should be played back using SACD discs. The full realism will comes thru here ... provided you have the SACD Player & the rest of the reproduction chain to do full justice to such a recording.

STEVE STRAUSS JUST LIKE LOVE M-CH SACD-Elusive Disc

Hi,

When I asked Danny about SACD, he himself told me that he has Allen Taylor SACD and costing rs.1500. Is this correct price?

In mall, I have seen the price of SACD'S are approx rs.400 and rs.500.

Do not know, this Allen Taylor is correct or not.

Anyway, not thinking about SACD now.

They are stockfisch records. Unfortunately they are costly than the regular Sony Music or Universal CDS

I do have a couple of Stockfish Record SACDs with sample tracks of their various artists, and the sound quality is quite breathtaking. Most of their artists are not that well known, save for Sara M etc (which is being played at many of the hifi shows for demonstration). May I ask where one is able to get these here in India please - or am I misunderstanding the posts?

Unfortunately with such an amazing quality as Stockfisch, their music is mostly garbage. Waste of their capabilities and people's money:(

OT alert:
Anyone knows where to source Japanese audiophile pressings of Japanese small ensemble jazz? Like Yamamoto Trio, Hideo Ichikawa Trio, etc. I forgot the name of the label but it has a small mouse.
There could be other labels too, esp XRCDs.
OT alert over.

Try https://www.elusivedisc.com/products.asp?dept=859

The site has foreign shipment option and has some great western/far eastern classical music collection in XRCD.

For excellent sound that won't break the bank, the 5 Star Award Winning Wharfedale Diamond 12.1 Bookshelf Speakers is the one to consider!
