Seeking clarification on 9V battery variants

Hi,

Can one use 6LR61 9V battery where 6F22 9 V is specified? Are they interchangeable? I bought an old Sony Dream machine clock radio and it says 6F22 (for time backup). I see that 6LR61 are alkaline and probably superior (is that right?). Can I safely use them instead? I tried to google this but without success.
