Hi
I am planning to pull the trigger on an ICEpower 200AS2 module from SoundImports.eu for a DIY power amp project. Before I proceed, I wanted to check if any members here have recently imported from them to India.
I’ve done a rough calculation of the landed cost to India, but as we all know, Indian Customs can be a bit of a wildcard. I’m particularly interested in your experience with their shipping partner and how the "Assessable Value" was calculated at the port.
Price Breakdown (Estimated):
Product + Shipping: ~180 EUR (approx. ₹16,200). This assumes the module is ~140 EUR.
Customs Duty & Taxes: Estimated at ~31% of the total invoice value (approx. ₹5,000).
Total Landed Cost: ~₹21,200.
Note: This assumes SoundImports deducts the 21% Dutch VAT for an export order outside the EU.
A few specific questions for those who have used them:
Did you face any issues with the KYC process through their courier?
Was the 21% Dutch VAT successfully deducted at checkout?
For those who have built with the 200AS2 or other boards (like Hypex), any tips on housing these to minimize 100Hz hum issues often found in DIY builds?
Looking forward to your inputs and suggestions

Cheers!

Since you have not got any replies, let me add my indirect experience.

I do not have experience with SoundImports.eu but I have experience importing astronomy hobby related stuff from US and Europe. This is my experience:
  • Customs value is calculated on total cost including shipping
  • The seller will not add local taxes (sales/vat) in the invoice
  • If you are shipping through postal service (eventually delivered by India Post) the customs will be the lowest. It will take time, but typically net value of around 31% of the total cost. Standard 10% duty on value + 18% IGST on value+customs.
  • If you are shipping through courier service there will be customs + IGST + their service fee for clearing customs for you + GST on their service cost : You can expect around 40%-60% of the total cost
  • If you are shipping through courier which quotes door step prices (they include customs and their service fee upfront), then this is the most transparent and fixed cost you can expect. Some astronomy sites in the US offer this shipping method. But again in my experience it will be 40%-60% of the value of the invoice.

Arun
