Dear hifivision users,

im seeking some helpful advice: I want to buy and set-up a system which allows me to do video-conferences via Skype in a good quality (hd if the bandwith allows it) on an average TV.
It also could be some head mounted display like googles project glass or like the Sony HMZ-T1 Personal 3D Viewer, but a lot cheaper as I need about ~30 of them. Its part of a project at university.

The cam should have a wide ankle, so the people doing the conferences via skype can move around a bit and dont have to sit in their position the whole time.
What would be also interesting to know, is how much bandwith is roughly needed for video-conferences in hd.

Thanking you in advance,

Chris

from my experience you need a minimum of 1 mbps (and thats at the very least). whats also very imp apart from the bandwidth is for your connection not to drop. will doing data sketchy connections do work but can be very irritating for voice

you need a good HD webcam from logitech or microsoft with a hi speed internet line of min 2mbps.............more the better!!! Most tv's come with many built in apps including skype. Hook up a webcam and you are good to go.

I have 10 MBPS and yet Skype freezes for me when I run the video in full HD (1280 x 720) which is the max I get in my MS LifeCam webcam. Many times the system will need to be rebooted as it hangs.

However, I can do video chats and even group video chats on Skype at 640 x 360 resolution.

Quite sure the issue is not with the ISP b/w.
