A week before Christmas, my wife and 9 year old daughter have been telling me that they have a nice present for me for Christmas and they didn't breathe a word nor drop a hint of what it was. All they kept saying was that I'd love it. Even my daughter who otherwise jabbers non-stop till our ears ache, didn't breathe a word to me on what the present was.

So, Christmas day comes. I check under the tree and there is a gift envelope addressed to me. I feel through the envelope. It feels like a coil of a thin rope. For the life of me I cannot guess what it is. I open the envelope and...

[wait for this in another post...]

It was a prank present. Meant to make fun of my "obsession" with wires/cable. And to punish me for the times I made them hold wires when:
  • I was wrapping them with teflon tape
  • Braiding them
  • Soldering them to conenctors
And to punish me for me yelling at them when they didn't hold the wires in the particular way that I wanted.

It seems that in October, when we went for an outdoor exhibition, I went over to inspect the wires of fairy lights that were wound over some trees. I swear that the whole length of these wires were braided neatly and it was the first time I ever saw braiding on cheap fairy light wires. And I was admiring the braiding. My wife and kid felt ignored and it was then that they decided that wires were more important to me than them. Not true of course. Wait...

Hence the prank. :D

So, I opened the envelope and immediately started examining the wires closely. And was admiring the neat twists. My wife and daughter started their "Nudge, nudge" routine :o

Now, the wires: The shopkeeper told my wife that these are to be used for 240V electrical connections. It has a thick insulation but the actual copper wire is not more than maybe 22 AWG.

Wear it like a friendship band to tease them back --- and to confirm their worst fears about obsession with wires and cables!

(If they ask, you could even say you are wearing for your friend Speaker Cable ;) )
Now that could be fun to do. If I'm lucky, it could even result in d.i.v.o.r.c.e. :yahoo:
