Hi guys,

I'm looking to setup a balcony with an outdoor tv and some speakers. Any thoughts on what type of speakers would be suited for the delhi outdoors i.e. rain/heat/humidity?

Cheers!

Why not try these, if you have anybody in USA it is quite cheaper and also an branded one.

Or if you dont have anybody in USA buy thru shopyourworld or Ebay-global buy and cost will be about 12K inclusive all

NEW Jamo 3T Outdoor Pair 2-way outdoor speaker pair (Rs. 12127)

Srisundar - Thanks for the suggestion. But i'm looking for slightly higher end speakers, the suggestions from B&W and DefTech and Polk sound more what I'm aiming for.

Found the Deftech models
Definitive Technology - Outdoor Speakers

They are good but cost twice as much as Polk Atrium 4. I am using the polks and am very satisfied. The area of my open deck is around 180 sqft.

The 6500 looks awesome...! Any chance you know of the right place to pick these up? And price?

Also, would it be possible for you to share what model of the atrium's you have and how much you picked it up for?

My balcony size is probably very similar to yours. The reason I'm preferring the DefTech's for now is the bass aspect. How do you feel about your Atrium's from a lower frequencies perspective?

Sorry to bombard you with questions, but lastly, what sort of weather have you subjected these speakers to and how sensitive are they to positioning?

Many thanks!

I have the Polk Atrium 4 speakers. I bought from ProFX Mumbai for Rs13500 (10% off MRP of Rs15000) a pair.

I was also attracted to Deftech 5500 for the bass. However, the price was double and I did not have a TV in the area. This is just a music setup with 2 speakers in the lounge and 2 in the deck. Also the music I play is mostly soft like old Bollywood and not the thumping dance tracks. Therefore I decided that the Polks were enough. Not much difference between Polk and Wharfedale Neptune. Since was buying KEF from ProFX for my lounge I went with Polk.

Finally though my speakers are in the outdoor deck they are well protected from rain by being under a parapet. However, they are exposed to heat and dust particles. So far I have had no issues with the speakers. Positioning is also quite flexible. Mine is at a height and pointing downwards towards the listener in the centre.

If you are going to watch Movies in the outdoor then you probably need 5500 for the lower frequencies. Though for around 180 sqft 6500 may not be needed. Also subjecting to direct rains is not a good idea. Try to cover with a parapet and best is to wrap with a plastic cover when not using them.
