Does the Smart TV feature in 3D TV have only preinstalled apps such as Facebook and Twitter or does it give us the option of downloading more applications online?

At least on my TV, I have not explored. I really don't care. I prefer my laptop anyday.

Well, As per my knowledge some of the smart TVs comes with preinstalled while we have to install for some of them.

One of my friend owns an LG 37" Lcd with some applications. After looking at the features. I don't feel they are worth the extra price. Just buying a normal TV and adding a media player or HTPC is a more flexible option.

Yes, It is a 37" LG LCD TV, It had a basic browser, Youtube , Facebook and other regular apps. My friend had got it during a holiday in Singapore. I don't remember the Model No.
