Yesterday, unearthed these 'ultra rare':cool: beauties from an aunt of mine, who had kept them in storage ever since my dear uncle left for heavenly abode. Today, cleaned them up, connected to old phillips micro as source, connected 1 speaker at a time, then wondered what should i play? Tape it was:indifferent14: & that too of some similar vintage:rolleyes:
Genre? Hard Rock to start with:licklips: who better than Ozzy? '86 album 'The Ultimate Sin' Yes, it was like committing the ultimate sin for me not knowing what was in store for me:cool:
Now listening to 'Tribute to Iron Maiden' yes, yes the solidaire's are meant for this type of music:lol: Even though the tweeters are 'dead' the midrange barely alive & the bass driver now basically a full ranger doing battle all by themselves :clapping:

On a serious note, can someone shed light on these speakers? Googled for info but nothing found on solidaire save for some info on them manufacturing TV's in the mid 70's to 90's or something like that & thats about it. Any info on these speakers would be highly appreciated :)

Sticker on the back side of the speakers above the wires says Solidaire SS-70 & 'Hi-sound corder pvt ltd' - Madras with serial no - (nos have vanished)

Solidly built beauties, man.
Would suggest you get in touch with any DIYer here and get necessary info on the drivers to be replaced.
Get 'em running the way they were, when new. Don't think it would cost you a lot of moolah ..

Yes Sir!!!

Await for the DIY Guruji's to help me get them back to full strength once again, ironic that they will be the ones to get me started into the DIY which I have been wanting to do for such a long time, its like they drew me towards them to bring them back to life:)

Just the way I 'brought' back my Dad's HMV turntable ..... :)

I'm sure my uncle would feel the same way from above :) He was totally into music lived/ate/breathed music esp old/vintage hindi (golden oldies as he called them) music.

Why not send a PM to Anil Kumar of Bangalore?

The guy looks he knows his stuff, and possibly he might not be an ardent 'posting-checker' as us ...

A beautiful, well-constructed speaker with class-leading soundstage, imaging and bass that is fast, deep, and precise.
