Song meanings or lyrics that moved/move you whatever the genre.

This ‘grisly‘ song reminds of another The Velvet Underground offering called The Gift. Waldo the protagonist plans to surprise his girlfriend by parcelling himself. The consequences are tragi-comic.
I gave that a whirl..Cutters are grisly for sure and too bad Waldo didnt live to tell the tale. This is not when one should quote the song "jealous guy". :)

"Well, you're my friend, (that's what you told me)
And can you see (what's inside of me)
Many times we've been out drinking
And many times we've shared our thoughts
But did you ever, ever notice, the kind of thoughts I got
Well you know I have a love, a love for everyone I know
And you know I have a drive to live I won't let go
But can you see it's opposition, comes arising up sometimes
That it's dreadful antiposition, comes blacking in my mind

And then I see a darkness
And then I see a darkness
And then I see a darkness
And then I see a darkness
And did you know how much I love you
Is a hope that somehow you, you
Can save me from this darkness

Well I hope that someday buddy
We have peace in our lives
Together or apart
Alone or with our wives
And we can stop our whoring
And pull the smiles inside
And light it up forever
And never go to sleep
My best unbeaten brother
This isn't all I see

And then I see a darkness
And then I see a darkness
And then I see a darkness
And then I see a darkness
And did you know how much I love you
Is a hope that somehow you, you
Can save me from this darkness

Nick Drake - Northern Sky

This song is from one of my all-time favorite albums, "Bryter Layter". Nick Drake's songs are tinged with melancholy, hope (as in this song) and quiet introspection. A few weeks back, I was quite surprised to hear this track being played during the title credits for A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood, but realized soon enough that it was a befitting choice for the film :)

Song Lyrics:
I never felt magic crazy as this
I never saw moons knew the meaning of the sea
I never held emotion in the palm of my hand
Or felt sweet breezes in the top of a tree
But now you're here
Brighten my northern sky.
I've been a long time that I'm waiting
Been a long that I'm blown
I've been a long time that I've wandered
Through the people I have known
Oh, if you would and you could
Straighten my new mind's eye.
Would you love me for my money
Would you love me for my head
Would you love me through the winter
Would you love me 'til I'm dead
Oh, if you would and you could
Come blow your horn on high.
I never felt magic crazy as this
I never saw moons knew the meaning of the sea
I never held emotion in the palm of my hand
Or felt sweet breezes in the top of a tree
But now you're here
Brighten my northern sky.

Hi @sandeepss
Too bad he made only a handful of albums and died too early. Never saw much success and the producers made him open for bigger bands and all but it didn't work. The song northern sky also features in the movie serendipity with John Cusack.

Yes! It's very unfortunate. In music too there is a 'bandwagon effect', which propels many to fame and ignores many talented artists (like Drake), in its wake.
