I have a Sony universal learning remote. Since a few days, I felt that I have to point it directly in front of tv or settop box for operting it, otherwise it does not work.
It has 3 IR LEDs in front for emitting. When I checked using a mobile camera, I found only two were working (i.e. glowing) when I press any button.
So I assume that the bad one needs to be replaced.
Since I will do it myself (soldering et al), any idea of the model no. of the LED which would be suitable for replacement? Or can I just buy any IR LED and it should work?

For referance, here is the link to the remote:

I think you should forget about the replacement of LED, as obviously it will be more than the cost of the remote.

If it's a learning remote, the other one might be a IR receiver
and not a IR LED.
2 working IR LEDs should be fine. Did you check the battery?

You got it right!

It never occurred to me. Since it is a learning remote, the non-glowing one got to be an IR receiver and not an LED.

Thanks.
