Hi Guys,

I don't know if i am posting in the right thread . I am looking forward to buy a Soundbase for my TV .I have narrowed it down to ONKYO LS 10 , Cambridge Audio MINX TV and the BOSE SOLO .
I have not auditioned any of these so far but i would like your suggestions on which one i should go for .
Also i have read about Sony HT XT1 which i assume is currently not available in India.
Thank You

Hi Cheth:

Yes, Sony HT XT-1 is not yet available in India, but I ordered through ebay global (USA) and have been using it with a step-down transformer for the past three months. Performance is excellent with 3 HDMI inputs and a TV out. It's really sleek and can easily support TVs' up to 50".

Plays really loud and has various sound settings to suit your tastes. However, it cannot compete with a dedicated HT, but for every day use it is exceptionally good.

Hi Arun,

Thank you for your input. How much did it cost for buying through E-Bay Global?
did you get the step down transformer locally?
Thank You

Sorry Cheth, was travelling and couldn't reply. It costed me Rs.28,000/- and got the step-down transformer from Shah Electronics, Chennai for Rs.1000/-.

Hi cheth10,

You have not mentioned (1) the room size, (2) TV screen size and (3) what purpose (like everyday DTH-TV, DVD movies, gaming, etc.) and that makes recommendations a little tough.

I have been using a JBL Cinema SB100 (can be wall mounted or table-top placement) along with a Sony 32" LED TV for everyday use with Sat-dish TV programs since November 2013. And now, it is almost forgotten that it is there. The JBL unit may not come with all the bells-n-whistles of the Sony Soundbase, but it has un-fatiguing sound quality that anyone can live with, and it is unobtrusive - virtually disappears with time.

Read my review here:

Read reviews by others here:

And about the minus things said about Sony Soundbase, I may think twice:

The JBL SB200 may a higher output and a better bet, but it does not have a sub-woofer output if you are thinking of adding an active sub-woofer sometime in the future. Give both JBLs a try, if you wish.

And, yes your post is in the wrong place (and I came upon it by accident).

For excellent sound that won't break the bank, the 5 Star Award Winning Wharfedale Diamond 12.1 Bookshelf Speakers is the one to consider!
