i am in the process of acquiring a desktop stereo setup.

laptop -> nuforce udac2 -> topping tp20 -> pinnacle subsonic sattelite speakers or b&w lm1 (in the longer run)

the topping apparently will fry if there is a short circuit. so i would like some cable which is shielded enough so that a possiblity of a short circuit is low.

i am in bangalore. so appreciate some references to shops here and cable brands. not looking for ultra expensive or cheap stuff. quality stuff at a reasonable price.

btw i was checking on amazon for speaker cables. i can find cables by companies like monster (which i already have), monster ultra, pyle, pyle-pro, hosa, rca, pyramid, cables to go, cables unlimited, professional cable, dayton etc

any idea which is considered "good"?

are blue jean cables available in india? i think the name sounds sexy and will surely add to the sound :-)

Even battery bellwire will pass this test! Unless you physically damage your cable, I just don't see this likelihood.

The biggest danger is going to be at the ends. A stray strand of wire, or setting up connections without everything turned off --- dangers that the cost of the cable cannot protect against, however high!

Also, consider the termination possibilities of your equipment. Small speakers (and maybe your amp, in this instance?) are likely to have clip terminals that are just not going to take a heavy-gauge cable. Maybe yuo wouldn't have this problem with B&W. (B&W Desktop speakers? Wow! :licklips: )

My speakers are active, but here's the connection to the unpowered speaker of the pair, with a Rs.1 for scale. Rs10,000 speakers --- but what's the point in trying to cram anything bigger into those clips? For a desktop system, the runs are very short, anyway.

Monster cables, I rate with Microsoft: the quality is in the marketing department! But ask me if I ever listened to any, and I'd have to admit that I haven't :o. My impression is just based on a lot of surfing of consumer/etc sites. Just my view.

Enjoy your system! Sometimes I think I would rather have gone for similar, instead of for active speaker system.
