HI,

I have a Sony speaker which status i want to check . After using continuity tester i.e a probe with led i got "On" state when i touched + and - of speaker with different ends of tester. Is my speaker bad or it shows continuity when we connect tester to both ends??It showed resistance of 7ohm on multimeter too.

Well, it is really hard to judge this way but there is a possibility of the shortage of the voice coil. The reason I am saying this is because the Sony speakers generally have impedance of 8Ohm but your speakers are showing impedance of 7Ohms. But refer to your speaker specifications first.
Why don't you just connect your speakers to your system and check, It won't blow off your amp as the impedance is not 0.

Hi Vivek

I have a Sony mini hifi system.
The speakers with it have 6 ohm impedance

Hi
Thx for reply.

The nominal impedance rated on speakers is 6ohm.But as i used multimeter it showed DC resistance which was 7.I do not have formula to calculate impedance.

My query is i checked + and -ve of out it showed continuity.I think the led glows becoz the voice coil path is good and of course with some resistance.
