Hi,

I am planning to buy the Onkyo NR616 AVR. Just wanted to know what speakers should i go for. My room size is 18' X 14'.. 14' being the watching/listening distance. My budget for buying these speakers is around 30-35k. Difficult to stretch the budget at this moment.

It would be really great if you guys could suggest a suitable speaker set up for the Onkyo NR616 AVR. I would be using this setup in the ratio of 70% music and 30% movies. BTW i am planning to get the Onkyo AVR from UAE. It sells for around 2000 AED there i.e. around 25-26k INR. Once i get to know about the speakers i will get them too from UAE.

Need your expert opinion friends.

Thanks & Regards,
Gokul

I'm using TSi 400 Floorstanders from Polk Audio alongwith a CS-10 Center Channel and TSi 100 surrounds with Onkyo TX-NR 616. They go well with the Amp. The TSi 400s will come for about 26-27K a pair, and CS-10 will come for about 10-11K. All prices are Indai prices. Not sure how you'll buy and ship floorstanders from the UAE, because they are bulky and the shipment will cost a bomb! Rest of the speakers, you can stagger and purchase over a few months.

Since you're mentioning a budget of 30-35K, I'd suggest you stagger and buy a good speaker set even if it takes a few months. Dont be in a hurry and buy the entire 5.1 package for 35K right now. Because for 30-35K, if you go to buy the entire 5.1 package, you'll only get HTiB Satellites and Subs - and trust me they'll cramp your 616's style!
