Speakers for Yamaha RX-V375

Hi,
After quite a bit of reading around (I cant do too much auditioning as I live in Bhopal) I got myself the Yamaha RX-v375, it came highly recommended on What HIFi and others as well as here, I have set it up as of now to my Onkyo SKF 4600 Front speakers only, gone thru the YPAO etc and all seems working fine.

Now I am looking for speakers for it, and I have a budget of about max 60K...unless I find something great.

1. At first I was thinking of adding the the Onkyo SKS 4600 and SKC 4600 for surround to complete my package, but I can not find any new speakers of these as they are out of production now , and there are better newer models now I believe, like the 4700 and the 4800. I can find a used set but I am a bit skeptical on getting those.

OR
2. Get a complete new set of speakers for the Yamaha and replace my old FS onkyo's, but I am find it hard to find a 6Ohms set which I like, so I am confused so to which option to take. PLease make some suggestions....

FMs paired sonodyne 1501 and Dali zensor 1 BS with 375.
Please check some of those threads and you will get more details.
You have got one of the best budget AVR. What was the price?

I paid 26K, for it...in Mumbai all negotiations were done on the phone so I am sure one can get it at a better price if one haggles :)

And yes I love it so far its only been 2 days but I am very happy with it...

With your budget, there are some pretty neat speaker packages available on HiFi mart

5.1 Home Theatre System

There are Boston Satellites or mini bookshelf or Wharfedale available...Quad lite is also there if you stretch your budget.....

Bostons do a neat job and are better value for money and performance....depending on your listening area, you can choose either the Boston satellites (Soundware XS 5.1) or go for the A2310 HTS set or make a combination set....

Front Towers Boston A250
Centre Speaker Boston A225c
Surround Boston A25
Subwoofer Boston ASW650

Fortunately there are tons of reviews and user videos on the net which can help you to take the right decision in selecting or shortlisting the package you want...end of the day it is what appeals to you and your wallet......

I've a doubt. To the best of my knowledge, output power/impedance of Indian model of "Yamaha RX-V375" is rated @ 6? only (it doesn't go upto 8?), whereas typical impedance of "Wharfedale MovieStar 65+ Super" is rated @ 8?. Isn't it a mismatch? Shall the "Wharfedale MovieStar 65+ Super" speaker system run properly, as expected, on the AVR "Yamaha RX-V375" (Indian model)?
 
A speaker of higher ohms than that of receiver is not a problem at all as the current through the transistors of receivers would be less however if we connect 4ohm or 2ohm speakers to a 6ohm receiver the current in the circuit would be higher than intended by manufacturer which might damage the receiver components.
Hence it is perfectly fine to run an 8ohm speaker with Yamaha RX-V375.

BTW the US model has option to select speaker impedance but hot the Indian version of RX-V375.

What about the RX-V475 (indian model)? Does it have the option to select the speaker impedance? I am planning to match a Wharfedale MS-100 with a impedance of 4 ohms with a Yamaha RX-V475.
 
The manual for RX-V375 as well as 475 says:
"Setting the speaker impedance
(U.S.A. and Canada models only)
Under its default settings, the unit is conf
igured for 8-ohm speakers. When connecting
6-ohm speakers, set the speaker impedance to 6
?
MIN. In this case, you can also
use 4-ohm speakers as the front speakers."

I have 375, if i press power button holding straight button the receiver switches off. So not applicable for models outside US.
Going by the Owner's Manual it seems similar is the case with 475 too.

Today afternoon I had dropped an email to Yamaha India with same query, hoping for a reply by tomorrow.

Also how do we change the impedance of speakers? I don't see any such knob on the speakers in the pictures. I guess we have to do that on the receiver..right?
 
Yes the impedance change is done at the receiver. (Press and hold the "Straight" and then press Power button) but not in India :sad:
BTW I use 6ohm speakers.
No reply yet from Yamaha, still waiting.
 
u cant change the ohm manually, basically if u r connecting 6 or 8 Ohms speaker it will detect the same. so both speakers can used.
