hai friends

Today i had a chance to compare side by side of two speaker set ups

1. Marantz PM 8003 + Quad 11L classic speakers
2. Bose 2.1 PC speaker set up

Comparison results

1.What i & my friends found that the marantz combo has a bit more tonal clarity where as bose provides a gcomparable tonal clarity along with instruments sounds a bit more clear compared to marantz set up...but the bose looses its clarity when its played very louder where as marantz set up maintains its sq even at louder volume .

2.For volumes at reasonable ranges or a bit high..then marantz n bose are playing at alomst same clarity...where as bose has one advantage of doing it 5.1 virtually for movies...in a rectangular room we heard this very distinctly..i forgot to mention i run marantz set up via most acclaimed Asus Xonar Essence ST card with front output of 124dB SNR..where as bose set up takes usb input

3.When i compared the bass of these two set ups...bose set up looses at very high volumes...bass dont increase where as it becomes louder with distortion where as my current set up of Marantz has no sub...so in built bass was not so rich but no distortion atleast.

4. Coming to DAC section...bose takes usb input and has inbuilt DAC section...where as marantz set up needs only analog input...no DAC inside..so needs a high quality CDP or Sound card for its musicality.

5.atlast prices of these two set up we had...marantz combo comes at 66k where as bose at 22.5k almost at 1/3rd price of it

so i think those who dont have much budget can look for these choice...if any other thing im missing in my comparison please ask me...

the reason for your findings ( i.e higher volume ) in point no. 1 and 3 is simply due to distortion at higher volume due to the lower rms values in the bose

btw
what 2.1 bose model are we talking about

@Cnu congrats for Quad 11l2.......so finally you went for Quad's ........so which thing puched you for Quad's???

@prash2k01

Hai i just listened 3 speakers

1 quad22l2
2 wharfdale evo 30
3. polk rti a3

out of this i liked quad22l2...since i see that my amp has 70w/channel peak output and quad cannot be driven so thought of buying quad11l2 but after seeing quad website..it claims quad 11L classic has major improvements interms of motor n baffle ..so bought that..Thanks :)

What about imaging and soundstage?

Thanks iaudio for ur query...i was unkown of the terms sound stage n imaging

i read the difinition of this terms as

Imaging - The sense that a voice or instrument is in a particular place in the room.

Soundstage - The area between two speakers that appears to the listener to be occupied by sonic images. Like a real stage, a soundstage should have width, depth, and height.

In case of marantz set up...when i listen sound ...speakers dissappear...i feel like sound coming from centre where as there no speaker in there...In case of Bose...when i listen sound from it i feel the rich sound coming from speaker but speakers do not dissappear...the source is soo strong to locate them...that might be tech diff...

Wud like to hear more of ur queries to know sound much more better
