Hi,
Though I have gone through the thread where it says it is possible to buy standalone sb receiver and use it without sb controller, has anyone here actually tried it?
Or maybe someone here in Delhi/ NCR who has a duet can loan me a controller for a day. I would then use an ipod ipeng to control it to pay internet radio as well as music stored on a comp.

Pls respond quickly as the friend who can carry it for me has just couple of days to do any shopping.

thanks. But the question is regarding setting it up the first time without the remote.
Even I plan to control it via ipod touch, and that is why I do not need/ want the controller.

Anant, could you please share with me where you are getting only a SB receiver from? I need one too. I managed to find one in the US, but unfortunately was DOA (Dead on Arrival) so getting a refund.

I plan to share one controller between two Squeezeboxes. I have read this is possible. It is also possible to control the receiver with a iTouch or iPhone. If you require the remote to do the initial setup, am happy to send mine to you. So go ahead and buy the receiver while they are still available. They are getting rarer by the day.

If I remember right...

It is necessary to use the controller to set up the system in the first place, primarily for setting up the wireless networking. Inputting the long password string with the controller wheel is a painful experience, and one hopes not to have to do it more than once!

Well, officially it is necessary, at least. Unofficially, there is a tool for the job. Please see Net::UDAP - SqueezeBox Receiver configuration tool.

I have not tried it... but it is there.

Once you follow that link, you'll find yourself on the Squeezebox Community Forum. If you don't know it already, it's a great place to discover.

Well, I did not read the whole thread: no successes reported there?

It is an expensive box to turn into a paperweight, although a factory reset should be an always-possible saviour. I do find entering that long wifi password string to be a real pain, and the two or three times I have done it is one or two times too many. On account of that, I am not volunteering (service to the community though it would be) to have a go :o

The controller is much easier to mess around with: it runs Linux, and can be logged into. I can vouch for the hack that turns on the earphone output: that one I have done.

Thad, how did u do it? Pl. help onthis. Thanks.

Thad, I know you don't wanna screw up your duet. Lending me the controller would be the next best thing :-)
But seems I won't be able to get it now. The guy has turned down my late request to go to the shop.
Another thing I wanted some input on was the arcam rdac, but again I couldn't get enough info :(

Yes you can set it up without the controller because i. Have done it but I done it but just doing different things I don’t remember how can’t remember. But I know you can
