Dear FM's,
I want to gift a stereo(2 or 2.1) system to my cousin for his marriage in couple weeks. Following are the ones I am currently looking at:

https://www.amazon.in/Behringer-MS4...id=1519532088&sr=1-24&keywords=studio+monitor

or

https://www.amazon.in/Swans-M50W-2-...8&qid=1519482313&sr=8-2&keywords=swan+speaker

I really like the input options on the Swans but I doubt the bass performance in a room of size 12*15(in a typical India family or TV room). Any inputs on this will be helpful.

some assumptions about the playing environment:
1. 90% music will be played from his iPhone. Either from bluetooth (I am thinking of including a Logitech BT adapter) or 3.5 to RCA.
2. 90% chance they will be used in Family or TV room. May be in his bedroom 10%.
3. He has experienced and enjoyed Hi-Fi in my home, mostly from my Denon AVR & Ascend Acostics.

Constraints:
Rs 20,000 is very comfortable, Rs 25,000 lets do it. Rs 30,000 awesome performance.
2.0 is fine. 2.1 is better (if the bass performance is going to be perfect for the room). 5.0 or 5.1 is total nah nah.
Brand NEW only for very obvious reasons.

Please help with your inputs or recos. Inputs on the two listed speakers will be helpful too.

TIA.

I actually had the MKII on my list, is the M200a better?

stands? any suggestions, low cost?

CCA, does it work without any kind of WiFi avaliable, I doubt if my cousin will have anything setup soon in his new home?

On the internet you will find a rather nice pic of these on stands..

Leave it to the user to choose if he or she prefers stands.

Soundfoundations will be a good choice.

Regards

I have a swans d-10101v bought pre-owned on the forum. Love these speakers. Definitely recommend the m200a. In fact I considered the 200 before but since my usage was going to be strictly for you tube videos and other lo-fi computer based applications I decided not to spend more.
Cheers,
Sid

JBL Bluetooth wireless speakers ( Flip / Pulse ) are quite good and in your budget too

they have bluetooth as well.

compact too.

regards

Thanks for the inputs. Still not satisfied with my options. Here is another one for your opinions:

SMSL AD13 with Polks---does this fare any better than the SWANs?

May be Mission Mx3 with AD13?

I have not heard the SWAN.. but they are only powered speakers..But have used SMSL Q5 Pro for a while.. Excellent amps for the money..

These chinese digital amps are better than the powered speakers any day for half the cost.. Lot of flexibility in terms of connectivity.. Also consider FX Audio D802c, 200E, 160E, SMSL AD18.. Some have USB playback functionality (FLAC,MP3)..

Consider Taga Harmony FS package (or) standalone FS speakers.. Should be within your budget..Would be good for a 2.0 set-up..

Here are some gift bundles i made for gifting to my friends some time ago:

For bass lover choose Logitech Z623 bundle
For 2.0 choose Mackie...

Absolutely positively the best I could configure in searching a whole lot of speakers etc with demos....

PS: Foobar2000 is for upsampling to 176KHz...much more smooth sound
Fidelizer is a great software

Bundle 1 is best for sound quality
Takes care of following sound characteristics:
Clear
Low Noise
Balanced
Timing
Smooth

But Fiio X1 adds portability factor

Appreciate your time you had put in. Mackie looks like another promising option.

Currently, evaluating bookshelves with SMSL or chinese amp. I still have couple of weeks to decide.

I had that for a while before i gifted them away, yes as you put it is a bass machine and can easily fill the room, its not the clearest of sound but for 8k its a steal.

I ended up getting a https://www.amazon.in/dp/B00II5RZ6G...00-pcomp-feature-scomp&ref=bit_scomp_ask_sav0 for 13k now its for 16k. i could not be happier. its sounds superb clear concise and the bass is just right. it has bluetooth as well and doesnt cut out when connected either

Hi, Can you tell more about this Thonet & Vander RATSEL. I am also searching for 2.1 System.I used to have Altech Lansing MX2.1 THX certified 2.1 set up for the past few years. But now its dead so I'm in search for its replacement. Have you by any chance come across Altech Lansing MX5021 ? if yes please do compare it with RATSEL.
