Any particular reason you want only a "Handy Cam"? The best rated consumer camcorders today are from Panasonic. My recommendations are:
1. Panasonic HDC-SDT750
2. Panasonic HDC-TM900
3. Canon Vixia HF G10

I recently had chance to play around with the TM900 and G10. As much as I liked the TM900, I might have ended up picking the G10 if it were for my own use. G10 was excellent! But if you cant stretch up to the G10 then without doubt, TM900 is the one for any serious amateur or prosumer looking for a camcorder. The problem, however, is how many have the hardware and software power to edit those spectacular HD recordings?!
