Suggestion for speaker cable and connectors

Hi,

We have Philips 5.1 Home theater HTS3181/94, speakers are connected using a connector and length of the cable is not long enough to place on shelf and rear speakers.
What is the name of the connectors used in this system?
How to extended the cable length?

There are multiple ways for extending speaker wire. The simple and cheapest way that i usually follow is to use plastic terminal block like below. Get the terminal strip from local electronics store (costs around 20 rupees) and cut 2 blocks (refer, second pic). Connect speaker wire from amp at one end and to speaker at other end.
