Hello All,

I've been looking out for a stereo setup that'll be connected to the PS3. It'll not be used for movies since I have another setup for that purpose.

As for the speakers, I have zeroed down to JAMO s606 or s718. If you have a better suggestion please let me and I'll look forward to audition them.

I cannot decide for a AVR which will be best suitable for the above mentioned speakers. All I need is that the AVR should support OPTICAL IN, since I'll be connecting the PS3 through this. As per my knowledge, Denon 1610 is the ideal AVR which suites the above purpose. Again, if you have a better suggestion, I'll be glad to audition it.

Thanks & Regards,

It depends on what sort of games you play. If you are looking for something for first person shooters, you need a setup that images well. AVR + floorstanders may not work well for this, although they would be impressive in terms of slam.

For PC gaming, I am currently using a pair of audioengine A5 speakers. Great nearfield imaging. I've also tried a tripath amp with Cambridge Audio s30 speakers - almost as good.

The A5s looks impressive to say the least.
Any idea as to where to audition them in or around Delhi ?

Update :
Heard the Jamo C405 and absolutely adore it. The sound just clicked me.
The Cinebels guy had hooked them off to a stereo Sherwood Amp and it apparently sounded very good with it. The Amp gave 100W per channel.

He then hooked them up with a Marantz stereo Amp, but the sound went down the line. I could sense he was pushing me to go for the Sherwood Amp.

I am terribly confused for the Amp. Need help from pros to decide what Amp should I procure for the Jamo c405.

Youre in the same position I was last september and being a game tester, I can assure you, youre going down the wrong path. Why? because having owned the s718 and understanding it's relation with the c405 and the quality of sound you seem to like. Youre right now in the "wow" factor zone.

You need to back out a bit, relax and widen your scope to other brands. In this case if youre into games you cannot do without a 5.1 setup with dolby digital live audio from a soundcard. I'm pming you some details.

I understand, but since this will be installed in my room I cannot go for a 5.1 .
I already have a HT for that purpose.

I needed just a stereo setup in my room that'll be used for Gaming + Music.

You're absolutely right that I need to widen up my scope and evaluate each and every possibility. But having heard Jamo C405s (On a Sherwood Amp), I just can't wait to get those. Its like perfect match of what I wanted. Atleast at the time of demo.

why not try some very good headphones if space is a constraint. since you do not seem to have any issue with sound leaking out, you can try some good open headphones like hd 650 (though not too sure how good bad they are for gaming specifically)
