Suggestions needed for Subwoofer

I have Yamaha setup at home and now looking for active subwoofer. My old sub conked off. My budget is around 25K and room size is 15x20. Sub should be good for music as well as movies. 320kbps MP3 doesn't sound good without sub. I am inclined toward BIC subs but they are out of my budget. I searched online and found few subs like Taga SW10, Polk sub and few others. I am not audiophile and looking for suggestion which will help me to get good sub. I am from Pune, is there any place to audition few subs like Taga, BIC etc.

Ok, finally took plunge and bought Taga SW10 from HifiMart. The specification looks good on paper and hope it wont disappoint with its performance. I have queries regarding installation.

I have Yamaha Rx V473 receiver and it has Sub out but SW10 has no LFE port. It has Low level input and High level input. Can I connect Subwoofer cable to any one of the Low level input port or do I need Y cable. Hifimart people also told me connect subwoofer in similar way using subwoofer cable.

I am thinking to install subwoofer at the back side of setup due to small place left in front.
Its due to other instruments and furniture. Is it ok to install sub at back side of the setup.
Looking forward for suggestion from fellow FMs.

Place Subwoofer in Open space and give sufficient breathing space so that sub will not sound boomy. Connect Subwoofer out from your av receiver to low level input in live terminal.

connect to low level input and preferably place the sub to the corner of the room to have a better effect. do share your experience withe the new sub

Hi

You need to use a subwoofer cable and connect between the AVR and the RCA (L) / Sudwoofer in on the sub...it should be in a different color..refer to the instructions manual

The sub will sound as good as a Boston Acoustics ASW650....that's my experience when I auditioned it.....

Congratulations. Connect the sub out from receiver to the two low level inputs via a 1x2 adapter. Run the auto setup in the receiver and see that the gains for sub are well within limits.

Initially place the sub at any place convenient to you. Be assured in due course you would be placing the sub in every possible location in your room, so take it slow and easy. Get used to the sub, understand how it behaves at different cross over settings. Allow it to run in and then start experimenting with different locations.
