Suggestions please....

dell xps with bad audio output ??? u mean quality or the volume ??

xps are supposed to have good audio as far i know..
also 50k wud be decent enough for stereo setup..

get an amp and pair of BS as u mentioned 12x12.. and connect your laptop.. that wud do ..

Dell xps 1330 has a very low volume to even access the quality.
for now want to buy a amp and 2.1 channel ... i might change once i go for a few auditions, lets see!

I didnt understand the following can you eloborate,
Good source like CDP/Turntable?>lossless audio files>Decent speaker cables and interconnects (i thought the cables come with the respective device?)

Some players such as DVD Players/CD Players do provide an HDMI or audio interconnect. In most cases these are of very poor quality. So it is always advisable to get one separately.

Speaker cables are never part of the equipment unless you are buying a two-in-one or an HTiB. If you buy amplifier and speakers separately, you have to get the speaker cables also.

Cheers

You should reconsider your priority chart.
I would say its:
Good front speakers>Stereo Amp> Good source like CDP/Turntable> Good source material, decent cds and lossless audio files> Decent speaker cables and interconnects.

Feel sick so couldnt audition this week, next week i will be visiting the following shops for the following brands:
Good front speakers-Wharfdale in profx, somajiguda
Stereo Amp-Marantz in Soundroom, banjara hills

Speaker cables may not be bundled with speakers. Another situation is that if the cables are bundled, they might be of very low quality.
By interconnects, I mean, the cables that are used to connect the amp and cd player, usually RCA to RCA. In case of DVD players and AVR, it might be HDMI cable.

Hey Suri, she did mention clearly in her introductory thread to being a member of the fairer sex. Unless you know the person personally !!

Manu, in her introductory thread, Ms. Poornima has already confirmed this. Let us not discuss this any more please.

At HFV we welcome everyone who has an interest in AV. Let us keep the discussion to that.

Cheers

Hi,
Wharfe Bookshelves like 9.2 or 10.1 are considered to be good match with Marantz. You can consider the following combination for audition too. It has been recommeded somewhere in this forum as good match:

1. Bookshelf Spkr: Monitor Audio BR2
2. Stereo Amp: NAD 326
Hyd-members... can you guide regarding where these can be auditioned in Hyderabad?

BTW Poornima, having a 5.1 system along with above stereo setup may not need big bucks if you find Fenda 5.1 system "good enough" for your general HTIB requirements. I heard one such system retailing at 6.5k only, in "Home Town" mall at Pune, It had good enough punch for my HTIB requirements, and afterwards I felt I had unnecessarily invested 32k in my Onkyo HTIB, whereas majority of this 32k could have been directed towards, better stereo equipment.

Later I invested again in a dedicated 2-channel setup which is FAR better than HTIB in music, but despite that it doesn't deliver the large scale drama in movies /sound fx, the way the Onkyo does. So I ended up being a satisfied owner of two different setups. I think with Fenda system you can achieve dual setup too within 50k
