Your AVR should have pre-outs for front R and L speakers. Give the output to amp and from amp to speakers.

can u explain a little bit ? is it preout of avr to line in of integrated amp , but the sound gets muddy
is there any way to connect preout to line in without distortion

Option 1) as above I am using this connection. What do you mean by sound getting muddy. You will need to set the Amp volume level at a fixed point and run the AVR calibration. The amp vol should be fixed at the same level when ever you use it in HT mode

Option 2) use a selector switch

I have small doubt,is it sound signature will get change from front speakers ? front L & R going through amp and center from AVR.

Valid point . My guess is that the sound signature gets affected maximum in the pre amp section in AVR and the subsequent amplification does not add too much coloration.

So you may not notice a difference.

Option 3:
Run different set of speaker wires from both AVR and AMP.
Swap the inputs at speaker end depending on music/ movies that you like to play.

Some time back I had the same requirement. My AV dealer had provided a DIYed box with two switchable inputs and one set of outs. If you check with AV stores in Bangalore, you may be able to find one. Maybe some DIYers on the forum can help? Maybe you can post on the DIY pages.
Found this in the DIY section.
Though, at least in my case, the sound quality did suffer a bit.

you means, switches effects the sound quality ?

1. Does your AVR have Front Channel Preouts

2, Does your Stereo Integrated Amp have HT Bypass function

Yes it would sound slightly different.

but it also depends on other factors such as how resolving are your speakers .. Most budget speakers you would be hard pressed to hear the difference between the tonality difference

Yes My AVR has two front channel preouts. second point I did not get . If I am using amp for AVR pre out,how front L & R speakers sound for HT. I feel front speakers will get much power to sound than reaming speakers. correct me

Its better to keep a dedicated pair of stereo speaker cables for your integrated amp, if you are planning to connect the pre-outs of the AVR to an power amp that will be a good choice.

The volume control for all speakers will be through the AVR. The front L&R speakers though connected to the Amp will get controlled by the AVR volume control as the pre out signal strength changes accordingly.

You will need to adjust the Amp volume at a level which matches with the centre and surrounds the first time , note this level and keep it fixed when ever you use the 5.1 mode.

I was just wondering whether we could create a home made speaker selector using 2 way switches (typical switches we use for staircase lamps)

This is just a rough idea:

This switches come with copper connector (I don't think they are OFC).

I have also DIYed a similar Stereo Amp/AVR selector switch.
Later on I modified it to work in automatic mode. This I did by using a 12V DPDT relay in place of the manual switch. You can use this idea as explained below:
The relay is housed inside the stereo amp (a DIY amp) powered from a 12V step-down trafo.
The primary of the trafo is connected in parallel to the 220V mains feeding the main torroidal trafo of the stereo amp.
When the stereo amp is powered on, the relay also gets powered and switches the contacts so speakers get connected to this amp. When the power supply to this amp is switched off, the relay also gets powered off and the speakers get connected to the AVR.
I feel this does impact the sound to some extent, but its OK considering I dont need a resolving system for TV sound (stereo amp is paired with TV sound output).
