Tata Sky HD+ problem

I always get a message that I have to change my resolution for better quality video, but there is nothing above 1080i!

I get the same message. also everytime the system is cold started it resets the volume to max..

Haven't really found a solution so set my universal remote to press 'ok' in the initial sequence.

your tv must be 'hd ready' not hd (720p not 1080i)

this is common.. it happens.. every time cold start the STB.. the volume starts at 85% and message for better resdoultion.. change settings however tv input shows.. 1080i at 50hz.. just live with it until another update comes from tata sky

You guys don't have a full HD TV. If you had, you won't get that message.
The message is independent of the resolution setting in STB.

I have 1080i TV and do not get such msg.

Regarding volume, it does go back to default level set at STB. Been like that before HD was introduced.

i have a 1080p capable tv and the message still pops up.. maybe the STB dint get the update properly. its a kinda bug...

its nutin to do with the tv. whatever settings you do it still says the same..
maybe a forced update on the stb would do the trick. its been happening with quite a few boxes and mine is a non recorder version.

assuming TV and AVR (if present) are capable of 1080i or higher resolution.

Does the message come in case you switch on the STB only after AVR and TV are switched on and ready? By ready I mean source on AVR is correct and TV + AVR handshake is complete.

default volume can be set in organizer - user settings - sound settings - stb volume

tv resolution message shows up sometimes... not sure if it is everytime after a cold start.

^^^ is right. you have to set the STB volume there and it will start with the same volume next time onwards.

Simplest of all solutions would be to set the res at HD settings at least equivalent to your panel capability.
After doing that, if the msg still appears, assuming you have at least an HD TV (1080i), you can safely say that its a bug in ST firmware

The resolution message comes only when the strength of signal is low due to rain etc. Otherwise there is no message on start up.

Other idea for volume control can be to leave STB at 85% and control volume of TV!
