Friend of mine has bought the Telome BT300 3-way floor standers & left them with me to do the 'burn-in' ritual.....

Am not playing any isotek cd or such, will only be playing my music, will post my views on their sound after a couple of hours...

Meanwhile am putting up some pics of these speakers....

The Norge & Philips(bhankas) are not lying around but are actually in operation my dear;)

Speakers are sounding good as the hours go by..... so far only playing mellow, easy listening music, will start with the headbanging stuff post 20-30 hours of burn in.....:yahoo:

Was quite perplexed reading mellow, easy listening along with your name denom! Then understood its just burn in sympathy!

:ohyeah:what to do, its for my friend who is like my blood brother!!! You have no idea how hard it is to do so for me!!! Restraining myself from playing M E T A L !!!

Have completed nearly 5 hours, will keep them playing atleast for 10 hours today & then maybe tomorrow post afternoon will head bang!!! Hopefully I will be having the free time to do so!

what is the price on these ?

Can you also try some house/trance music and give a review. I might just buy these if they sound good for trance music.

They cost 25k, bought directly from the company in bandra.

Am still in mellow mode, listening to '70s & '80s classic rock, some pop, R&B, so far have burned in for 15 odd hours, sound stage is nice & clean, loud but not boomy, so far i am liking them & am dying to play my metal tracks :D

Managed to complete 26 hours of easy listening & then decided to throw caution to wind & go hell bent for leather!!! That being the 1st track, dived in with full gusto playing lots of metal with the odd mix of a couple of trance tracks thrown in as requested by audiodelic.....
Feel a definite change in sound, whether it is to do with the burn-in or easy listening tracks i don't know but with metal, I get the full attack & punch that I am looking for, in Trance tracks felt I was in a discoteque!
These speakers can play clean loud without any issues, but need a good amp to bring them to life.... the speakers are being driven by my 80w/ch Norge to its limits! The heat sink of the amp is running hot..... The volume at 10 'o clock is more than sufficient to make my folks cringe!!!
So whoever likes 'bite' in their music will appreciate these speakers....
The Mid Range Drivers do make a difference in capturing a lot of detail in the music....
Would love to do a comparo with the Klipsch F2 Speakers albeit priced 50% higher, whose Tractrix Horn is still haunting me :(

Denom,

wah wah ! Speakers look like they will bring down the house. Please post a comparision between these and your Norge towers. It will be a good comparision since both are in the same price range.

Please compare while listening to some "songs" like a.r.rahman or techno music ;)

Sachin,

You cannot compare the 2, Norge Towers max out at 180 while the Telomes are rated @ 300, plus the separate Mid Range Drivers in the Telome's (none in Norge) make their presence felt a lot.... I am now regretting not going in for the Telomes :(

Sorry, have no A.R Rahman tracks have only 'Bandeh' by Indian Ocean (like it coz its a rockin track) it sounds very good on both .... as for techno, the Norge Towers can handle it but not at volumes that the Telome's do....

As of now, the pecking order is Klipsch F2, Telome BT-300 followed by the Norge Towers....

Frankly IMHO, the Telome's at their price are very good VFM.....

@denom:

I dint notice any ports in your pics so are these speakers a sealed design ?

Also i wanted to know in the trance songs you tested were the 8 inch drivers able to keep up with fast bass beat properly ?

Audiodelic,

they are rear ported (8.5 cms in size), just above the connectors which are located at the base.... the pace of the beats was manic!! like machine gun fire.....

For 25K, a 3 - Way FS is outstanding value for money.

Hi Denom,

I am considering getting myself Sonodyne 2605 FS (24K). They are also 3 - Way speakers. they have 2 X 6' Woofers on each towers. Juz read your read about this FS. I guezz this would be even better than the Sonodyne FS. I am interested in this product. Can you shed some more light on the performance of the speakers...

Is it bright or laid back like wharfadale's...

What amplifier can be considered to drive this... (NAD, Norge)

Was also wondering with the trance tracks you auditioned on these speakers, does the treble get fatiguing at all .... would you be able to listen to trance for hours together continuously on these ?

Now that would be highly subjective as 1) I do not listen to trance music at all, just heard those 4 tracks, whilst listening to them did not feel any ear fatigue...
2) Since you are into trance, you would be the best judge & that is possible only when you hear them yourself....

I listened to easy listening(jazz/classical), '70s/'80s/'90s classic rock/rock/grunge/metal
Guitar Virtuoso's & so far have enjoyed listening to all these genres + your trance tracks....

What i like about them is that they give you the attack that I require in listening to my kind of music (metal)....

They are neither laid back nor bright (in between is what i feel) I am powering them through a Norge 2060 amp, 80w/ch....
Have heard them paired to a Telome 200w/ch amp & that match was perfect...

With the volume of my norge at 12 o' clock the sound is loud & thuderous. I mostly keep the vol between 9 & 10 o' clock for it is more than sufficient....

The Telome speakers have a good sound impedience, Infact the output is what you could expect of being into the sound. I am completely satisfied with the pair I just picked up
