I have been an old timer listening to music from way back in the 1970s, all types until I was introduced to the 80s metal scene in the 80s. Have owned many albums over the years and followed many bands, from the analog recording era to the digital era, from the vinyl era to the streaming era. Have heard many bands live as well over the years. Since of late (possibly the last 5 years or so) I've been trying to locate obscure bands from the 80s metal era and have been quite amazed at what I've been able to find an listening to, on platforms like YouTube.
Since the last few months, some new bands and albums have been thrown up by the YouTube algorithms in my feed and I found these to be fantastic albums by artists I've never heard of. I did what one may almost immediately do, go to Wikipedia but found nothing, only to discover that these albums have originated from AI-practioners and lovers of the genre. I have started really enjoying these albums but also had this thought come to mind - do we need singers and bands again, do we need musicians and song writers again? Someone can do an equally good job sitting in her/his bedroom with a nice computer and with access to AI platforms. I wonder how this will impact bollywood for example - would we need lyricists, music directors and singers any more?
Take a listen (2 samples of typical flavours from the 80's glam metal scene)
Electric Storm - Broken String
Thunder of the Metal - Power Rock Ballads
