A new Magneplanar coming soon. This is for entry level audiophiles who want to experience the planar speaker sound. It is the same class as .7, 1.7 pedigree, named LRS, (Little ribbon speaker) Should be cheaper than .7 but yet to hit the market.34726

Should be a very interesting speaker!
But just like all the other models I really wish they would reinforce the stands a little.

.

Does it have the bass panel to reinforce the bass as the .7 doesn't have it?
This will replace the MMGi version. So it has a midrange and tweeter section. If you mean by the DWM bass panel, that needs to be bought separately, be it any other system from Magnepan.

Nice.. Look forward to it but doubt it will excite first time listeners... A better .7 would be my choice for a first time Magnepan owner...
Yea, but at half the cost of a .7 would be a game changer. The mmg's have wired panel ,these have ribbon. Lot more efficient and agile.

Doesn't the 1.7 have ennough bass? Then DWM bass panel would not be required then. What about the MC1, does it have enough bass?

1.7 goes down to 35hz, according to company specs. MC1 is up to 80hz. How much bass one wants is an individual's choice. There are users with 3.7's, who add 2 more DWM to augment the bass. Perhaps the same as people using subwoofers with full range dynamic speaker towers.

For excellent sound that won't break the bank, the 5 Star Award Winning Wharfedale Diamond 12.1 Bookshelf Speakers is the one to consider!
