Hi. I came across this forum when searching for options to repair my Quad 909. Am getting an output only from one channel. Earlier I was in Delhi, but am now in Bangalore. Would anyone have a suggestion?

The full set up is a CDP 99, the 909 power amp and I play it off a couple of Definitive BP 2006 speakers. I have had them for about 4 years now and been very happy with their sound. Had a bit of trouble with CDP when it was in warranty, but that was sorted out between the distributor in Delhi and Designer Audio in Mumbai. Was hoping not to have to cart the 909 to Mumbai.

The house I've moved to is a bit cramped and taking a snap is going to mean shifting some furniture around. Was hoping for the info quickly if possible. Will put up a picture later if people are interested.

Thanks

Alagu

Oh yes. I am now looking for a good turntable and a valve pre-amp. Possibly a second system to run through a large collection of LPs that friends have given to me.

Has anyone any experience with either?

Thanks again

Alagu

Welcome to the club !

Regarding your query for repair work, there was a post on this thread on the first page itself. For your convenience, here you go:

Hi QuadLovers,

Perhaps some of you would have heard of Quad Musikwiedergabe in Germany HOME
Quad Musikwiedergabe is the only company that can repair and/or refurbish older Quad ESLs such as ESL57 and ESL63 because they have bought over all machines and tools from Quad at the time they closed down operation and then sold the company to present owner. So if anyone is facing problems by burnt foils or crackling sound, which is due to slack ESL foils, from their speakers you can just contact me. I have an agreement with QUAD Musikwiedergabe to handle the packing, shipping etc. to Germany and re-import to India. Also older amplifiers starting from tube amps up to the 600-series can be repaired and refurbished by them. If you require any more information just contact me by PN.

Best regards,

Hope that helps. :)

Thanks, alcy. I had misread that to mean only speakers. Will get in touch - I located an email id and phone number online. Hope its correct. If it isn't I might return to trouble you - I didn't get that bit he said about contact over "PN"

Hi All,

Just for clarification, Quad Musikwiedergabe in Germany had bought over the complete inventory incl. all machines, tools etc. for manufacturing the ESL speakers at the time when Quad was sold to the present owners. Therefore they do service and refurbish both the older ESL models (57 & 63) and all amps and CDPs up to the 6-series. Series 7 and 9 amps and CDPs, all dynamic speakers and the newer ESLs 988,989 and 2805, 2905 as well the classic series valve amps have to be serviced by Quad UK or their distributors.

If you have any query, please contact me.

Hi,

I have recently booked a pair of Quad 12L2 in Pune, now pairing it with Marantz amp PM6003/7003. Can you suggest which amp will be best, and specifically whether 6003 will have the juices to drive it to get all the details out? I do not listen too loud. The source will be Denon 710AE.

Thanks & Regards,
Shyamtanu
