Top 10 Records Worth $1000 Or More That Can Be Found At Yard Sales

Thanks Hitenbhai,
yes, its the same link, some interesting prices, what say ??? :)

Very interesting! Maybe we need to spread more awareness so that burglars might get better ideas of what to get their hands dirty with :D Even I'd posted a similar thread but got no response :p

Btw I'd made a video on youtube that is related to this topic. Only difference is that the music I've concentrated on is more underground/metal :

The Rarest and most Expensive METAL Vinyl LP Records! (Top 50) - YouTube

^^^

Problem is that this is a niche market & hence the prices will never be close to ones as quoted for the mainstream ones in the article I posted :p

The bright side of this is that metalheads can lay their hands on these LP's for relatively cheaper prices :clapping:

Win win situation for metal :D

Long live metal \m/

PS: Most of the albums you've highlighted are KILLER!!! :licklips:

Can't say bro. Urban legends ??? Because I see Elvis red christmas vinyl from 30 $ to 1700 $ on ebay. Very confusing. I don't have any titles of that link, but honestly if I had one and music was not to my liking I would have sold it and made some money. Right now there is signed Michael Jackson vinyl for 75 lakh. Everything old has turned in to gold. Why I don't know.
Regards

Thanks! :) I don't listen to too much raw black metal (mayhem, burzum, etc) but I just had to include them to do this list justice  I'm surprised you knew most of the albums in that video :D Really nice!

And yes metal albums are relatively cheaper than the ones mentioned in your link..but even then I wouldn't even think of buying a record that's more than 200$ (maybe because I'm still a student :p). 100$ i might consider (if its a ridiculously rare album). What about you? What's the most you've paid for a record (if I might ask :) )?

I think it's a simple case of supply and demand. All these LPs that we're looking at are mostly (99.99%) 1st pressings. So obviously they're in production no more. Billions of Beatles fans all around this world are fighting for a few 500-750 1st pressings of (say)The White album. Plus there's no shortage of 'rich' people in this world. So no wonder these limited issues of 1st pressings go for such insane prices.

Am a metal head too, my avtaar should provide a clue to that :eek:hyeah:
Like almost all sub genre's except industrial, grind/death/pornocore, sludge, stoner, nu metal & doom to a certain extent :p

As for owning metal LP's, none of the titles you've mentioned, coz I have not ventured into the TT scene as of now.

Not sure, will have to check but i may have the Rolling Stones LP. Though honestly dont know which pressing is that. but again need to check the title (currently in office)

Here is Elvis red christmas vinyl. for 30 $ (Sealed) which is listed in rare records for 18000 $ Elvis Christmas Album so am little confused. In the past I had few links which had comprehensive data of rare records. But unfortunately don't have it any more. Some of the rarest one were 78rpm western classical compositions.
Regards

Wonder if any amongst our FM's have 1 or more of these albums in their collection :)

The bad news: no I don't have any of those.

The Good news: I never did. I'd be really upset if I recognised any of those as records that I might have lost, sold or had stolen! :eek:hyeah:

I do have the " Elvis Christmas Album" from '57, but unfortunately the common Black Vinyl version.
Also a rather beat up rare 10" LP of " Loving You" ( remember Shammi Kapoor copying the exact shirt/ coat / expression).....

among the LPs I gave away in this thread

http://www.hifivision.com/phono-turntables/13376-interest-check-lps-4.html#post187625

was #9 from your list. ( i think it was the mono version. but not sure) (check #35 from my list)

some lucky FM would have got it.. (and maybe he'll stand up).

I hope he donated to HFV as was my request.

edit:

are you sure the OP list is accurate

http://www.discogs.com/buy/Vinyl/Jimi-Hendrix-Experience-Axis-Bold-As-Love/67778768?ev=bp_titl

does not seem so premium..

What you have is probably one of the many novelty pressings or one of the literally THOUSANDS of fake " Originals" produced after Elvis' death. I just checked the ebay page : please note the clever wording and the giveaway tucked inside " 180Gm Audiophile.... released in '03 as a collectable item" (they did not press 180 Gm Vinylin the 50's)
These are copied down to the last detail inlcuding run off numbers in the label / groove divisions: the only way to know for sure is after opening the celophane you realise the cardboard / carton / paper /LP does NOT look 50+ years old.
A few years ago, I had bid and won on ebay, a "very rare" Japanese pressing of " Elvis Gold Records Vol 3" and then found the same seller put up two more copies with the same description one after the other, after the auctions ended : no way we could fault him on the description and unless using some Radio carbon dating method no way to disprove the age of the LP :=(

I didn't. I passed it on as titles were not I was looking for. I mentioned it in the same thread. By the way who got the vinyl/s ? Also nice gesture from you.

I doubt if vinyls can be duplicated. Though I guess it can be resealed and sold as mint.

i didn't say it was you.:)

I don't even know who got which records. Malvai was kind enough to take them off my hands and he handled the logisitics. but I doubt even he will remember it was such a long time ago.

also clearly, there are records and then there are "records". only certain versions are collectible. and i have no clue as to what makes a certain record a collectible. if any one can describe that, it would be great.
