TS+HD - Nat Geo HD FINALLY with proper sound

I noticed the dialogue coming from the rear left speaker and the centre speaker yesterday in some wildlife program on NGC HD Yesterday......so all is not yet fixed.

This is exactly how this has been even after the 'supposed' audio fix.

Actually if you increase the volume of rear right speaker, you would notice narration from rear right as well. However, sound is discrete on all 5 channels and the narration coming from rear speakers could be an issue from Nat Geo HD content provider itself. Its much better than Fake 5.1 coming from Discovery HD World on most of the programs.

Sanjay - I would appreciate if you could check on Sun HD to see how the audio comes from it.

If you are hearing the narration from the right rear as well, then that is simply a result of sound leakage between channels, which can happen due to poor encoding or decoding. In any case, there is no such problem with the audio of 'NG HD' on 'SunDirect HD' and the problem is most defiantely one that is being created by the technical wizards at 'TataSky HD'. It is absolutely shocking that TataSky has not been able to resolve the audio issues in what has been almost ten months now.

Actually its not the same sound like in rear left, its different spatial effect on the rear right at low volume. At my volume levels, I hardly hear sound from rear as center and primarily Main speakers get more emphasis.

MAX HD and Discovery HD (in most programs) do not have real 5.1 sound. NGC HD do, however I agree that the vocals should not come from rear speakers. Have given this feedback, I am told they are working on it (since past almost a month now). Will update when I get the update.

i registered a complaint about this( vocal in rear) 3 days ago, just now they called me and told it is fixed, cany any body in front of tv confirm it

Yes, in all HD channels only.. Rest will be in PCM stereo.

I recorded "Naked Science" episodes since about 15 days back and am observing MORE AUDIO issues YET AGAIN on Nat Geo HD! Center channel has very low volume when REAL 5.1 content is played. They have deployed the PSEUDO 5.1 converter for sounds recorded in 2.0 only! It kicks in on and off whenever it detects stereo recordings on the original 5.1 sound from Nat Geo HD!

Also, I noticed today AVL and mild DRC kicks both in Real 5.1 and 2.0 content. There are varies programs like Naked Science which have some 2.0 only footage, so during those footage, RANDOMLY this processing kicks in and is VERY MUCH AUDIBLE when it happens and destroys the original Stereo sound from the channel.

This CONFIRMS my SPECULATION on their strategy of deploying these converters/compressors on ALL HD channels and Star HD channels may also get them deployed soon if we don't complain!!! Currently its affected only on Discovery HD, Ten Cricket HD and RANDOMLY on Nat Geo HD.

I would encourage us all to TWEET TS @Tatasky and complain to them on all these audio processors they have deployed on SD and HD channels which are essentially killing the original HiFi sound INTENTIONALLY by them!!!
