Hi All,

I have been using the HD PVR Tatasky box for more than 2yrs now and off late, while watching some recorded programs only, the STB freezes suddenly and after about 5 mins reboots and switches to default mode and works fine.

This never happens while watching live content..

I guess, the inbuilt HDD may be failing  mostly due to with constant use and frequent switch on / offs..

Any idea if the HDD can be replaced either with TSKy support or preferably DIY route?
I have multiple hdds (2.5", 3.5") lying around which can be used, hopefully.
Also what are the options and costs for replacing the HDD?

Any inputs are greatly appreciated..

TIA
-tma

All the DTH PVR/DVR have encryption on the internal HDD. (to protect its content for piracy and for changing or replacing internal hardware/software)
I am not sure about Tata Sky; however I had successfully upgraded my Airtel HD-DVR internal HDD from 320 GB to 2 TB, just for the purpose of increasing the HDD space.
It was really a great initiative taken by the user 'thadiyan' of a DTH forum.

You can try similar method with your Tata Sky DVR.
If you are willing to try and take the risk, here is the link:

Upgrade your 320 GB Hard Drive to 500 GB - 2 TB - Videocon D2H, Tata Sky, Dish TV, Airtel/Reliance Digital, Sun DTH, DD Direct Plus help and discussion forums

Purchase the Audiolab 6000A Integrated Amplifier at a special offer price.
