Hello folks

Hope everyone is enjoying the music more than the gear

Needed help from the tube veterans on the forum

I have a pair of well testing Melz that met with an accident. See pics. I'm told it just needs the pins connected back and soldered. But I have no experience in soldering or to test if it's working ok..


Can anyone share any leads for someone who can fix this.. preferably in Delhi ncr?

For soldering, any audio video shop. If there's an internal issue, then a word of caution, as you will be handling high DC voltages.

I figured out how to solder them. But I wonder how all of them came apart.

Nope. Will use soldering iron only. This will demand a lot of patience.

Crafted my own tube socket adapters, however there was no tube on the other end, so if you can use smd paste and heat gun, that may work better.

I have no experience with smd soldering. Done point to point most of my life

It's a soldering job that's what the seller told me. The glass tube is intact, just that the base came off due to drying glue.

No internal issue, just an old tube with glue giving up.

Damn crazy experience of my life in the tube world ! I sat down to repair the tube and realized I have no inkling on the tube wire identification. Still went ahead. At first seemed to be an impossible task but still trusted my hunch and experience so far.

Tested the heaters. Bingo !

Mustered enough courage to play in my amplifier. Bingo !!!

It's surely a finest verson of Russian as well as 6SN7 tubes.
