I am thinking of buying a Basic TV that has RCA out and ARC in HDMI 2. My stereo amplifier has optical, coaxial and USB inputs.

Is it possible that HDMI(ARC) port output, when connected through converter (HDMI to opt/coaxial), would work. Anybody tried it and if so which converter works better. I will be connecting from set top box to TV through HDMI 1 for video.

Will the sound be better than when i connect RCA output of TV to amplifier?

I had to go through the same process a while ago and bought this lil box. https://m.aliexpress.com/item/32277224081.html#autostay
Works well enough, black aluminium body and I get optical, and analog out from my hmdi input. Will need a power source, but TV usb out should be enough.
Technically, should sound better than RCA out of TV. I couldn't really tell in my setup.
Btw ur settop box should have an optical out, my airtel box does. I did this to extract audio out of my old Chromecast.
