Dear friends,
As you know, many audiophile quality speakers come with silk/fabric dome tweeters or Horn loaded with silk voice coils.
As many of us are aware, we have seen our mother's and Grandmothers' desperation when precious silk sarees just fall apart.
So, is there a life span for the fabric of these tweeters? How long will they last? How can one prolong the silk dome life? Will they just crumble into powder one day?
Another question. Are piezo electric tweeters immune to this problem? Will well matched piezo tweeters with good woofers sound better or last longer than silk dome tweeters? Are paper cone tweeters as good/ better than dome or Piezo tweeters?
Question 3. Will one still be able to hear the tweeter long after the silk dome has crumbled? Is the dome necessary for treble production? Will a few holes affect treble levels?
