Yep - delta sigma DACs are not really meant for PCM content really. At least to my ears, multibits are the way to go for PCM especially 16 bit

I have never figured out what this whole fuss about imaging is. I love live music a lot, and thanks to the work I do with the church, I get to jam a lot with a pretty decent bunch of musicians. I have heard the sort of precise imaging on a lot of high end systems, and I've found it entirely unnatural. It's absolutely not there in a live event, and even during practice sessions, with the amplification turned off, I have never noticed the guitarists or violinist or the organist or different vocalists as point sources in a soundstage. Yes, you get the general impression that they're out there, and not like a mono source, but that's about it.

I've followed the same approach for my sound setup. I do tweak my setup for better sound, PRAT, resolution etc ,but otherwise I like to listen to music walking around, so I've never even bothered setting up my speakers properly
