Hi..

I have a Pioneer 1020K. For the past hour when my kids are trying to play WII, it shuts off after 20 secs or so with no reason. However when I play DTH, it plays fine.. However after few mins of DTH watching...my AVR shut down again.

Any reason why its auto shutting down for no reason?

Thx

You have written "for the past hour' ..... that means, just now ...?
Shut off is possible due to low voltage .... it could be one of the reasons.

Check the voltage as avidyarthy suggested. My denon avr will shutdown if voltage is below 150V. Also see any speaker wires are touching the amp body. This will cause the system to shutdown.

This could be due to multiple facts:

1. Voltage Fluctuation.
2. Protection against Speaker Wires shorting (which I doubt as your AVR does work for some time)
3. Could be due to Overheating.
4. If 110-V then also check your step down convertor.

If all the above steps don't help then there might be a fault with the inernal electronics where some Capacitor or Resistance might need replacement.

my wife did say that some day few mths back it did the same...but when I was back from office..it behaved properly

My unit is from US and my local made transformer needle is constantly around the 110-120 mark. I have UPS so voltage fluctuation is no issue.

Since I posted an hour back...I did switch on few times to watch TV and the duration after which it shuts off varies from 5 mins to 20 mins.

Thanks again for all your responses.

I have banana plugs. I shut it off for it to cool it down..although its not been operational since morning. Will check the speaker wires
