So - i got my projector from Europe and it came with a two-year warranty. Obviously, me being me:cool:, I had to find out WHY

So, here's the thing:

US - 1-yr warranty is a standard and thats whats usually offered.

in Europe - Warranties MUST comply with Directive 199/44/EC that means a TWO-YEAR warranty is the norm, and is binding by law
UK and Ireland not included

Hidden EU warranty rule helps shoppers get refunds | This is Money

AND

Warranties MUST comply with Directive 199/44/EC

So, in a nutshell, if the world's your oyster and you can have someone bring an electronic good from either EU or US - go for EU (ofcourse there are voltage compatibility benefits too)

My wife goes home to Canada once a year and every year, i plan so that she can 3-4 days seeing a city in Europe - thats why i ordered from EU so if something does go wrong, she can drop it off at the repair center and pickup it up on her way back.

EVEN IF YOU DON'T have anybody living there - consider this: a lot of electronic goods (or atleast the ones i've had) start giving issues (if at all) around the 15-18 month mark; usually 13-15 for projectors..........so even after all the shipping costs, etc it might be something to consider given the fact that you can get it repaired from the company and if they can't repair it - they'll replace it (the BEST part of the EU law) - read the links above

The core idea:
BE INFORMED,
DO YOUR RESEARCH,
BUY SENSIBLY
