Use Yamaha RXV 659 for HD audio

Hi Gurus,
Is it possible to use my old RXV 659 for a DishTV HD reception and enjoy the 5.1 experience? Currently that receiver (Circa 2006) doesnot have HDMI connectevity .

Does your AVR have optical or co axial input?
If yes connect the AVR through composite for video (yellow) and do axial for surround sound

Yes,it has both,optical & coaxial inputs.So can enjoy true surround.Connect HDMI directly to the TV & coaxial out to AVR.

Is there any limit on length of HDMI cable from STB directly to projector / TV ? In my case length of cable required is nearly 15 mtr !

15 meter can be problematic as signal strength degrades. You need good quality hdmi cable. For such large distance you can consider hdmi to lan cable adapter.
