Videocon D2H HD No 5.1 Sound

My bro got Videocon, and i can go to info and change to Dolby D, but when we change channel it defaults back to 1st option, anyway to make it remember my choice.

got it :D

Menu > Setup > Installation > code 1234 > Box Setting > TV Settings > Audio Output > Home Cinema.

I think it would be good that such info is appended in the OP itself, helps in avoiding repeat questions.

I read somewhere in this forum that Videocon DVR supports 5.1 through hdmi so try it.

I don't know but can I use spdif cable to connect my tv n STB(normal not dvr) n will I get DD quality sound without Home theater since I don't have any Home Theater right now.

I am not getting 5.1 in all channels. Star Movies HD and some others are not outputting sound in Home Cinema. They are working only in Stereo.

I have connected my TV to receiver using optical cable.
I am not able to get ARC (HDMI) to work. It worked for a short time but gave up. I am using Videocon HDMI cable. Should I get a different HDMI cable to expirement with ARC.

I am not getting sound in the surround speakers with the TV to receiver connection. Am I missing something?

Should I buy a SPDIF cable to connect the Videocon HD Box to Receiver.

I enquired about SPDIF cable but when I saw the price, it was written Rs.697. Is this cable is to costly?

Is it optical or coaxial? If it is coaxial then no need to spend that much money. Just get any AV cable and it will work fine. If you need branded cables then belikn has some VFM products.

Got a simple AV coaxial cable for 250 from Ritchie street, works fabulously now. I connected the STB to receiver.

Thanks for the suggestion.

Getting Dolby Digital sound now on HD channels and regular sound in other channels.

Only problem is low volume on DD sound so I have to increase the sound, but when I switch to other channels it is bit of hassle to reduce volume.
Is there any way to activate volume equaliser or something to equalize the colume from Settop box itself.

Actually the volume control on Videocon set top box remote does not work when I use (SPDIF port) coaxial cable to receiver.

I have to use receiver remote for volume.

It works on TV speakers.

Is there any way to change setting on Videocon STB to control SPDIF volume?

I dont think you can control the volume from the STB after connecting it to the Receiver via any connection (i have tried HDMI and SPDIF), but yes you can mute the volume from the STB Remote.

This is what i have been seeing with my steup.

May be the experts on the forum have more idea or work around.

Is there something specific that you want the volumne to be controlled from the STB remote.

I do not want to use the receiver remote to change volume, it is a bit of hassle to toggle between remotes to change channel and volume.
One less remote.

I read somewhere that Videocon remote can be programmed like a universal remote by pressing OK button and 2 for few secs, but it does not work for me. I got to call them tomorrow.

The D2H 5.1 sound is going good so far now. Coupled it with the Onkyo-3400 HT. So far, pretty good.
However, the new update has made switching to 5.1 sound more tiresome. D2H users, does 5.1 work with the HDMI(Non-DVR)?

Instead of renewing my TataSky+ HD connection I thought of replacing it with D2H HD DVR. But my experience with sales itself made me believe that their customer care is insane.

Response I got was,

Sir, we can not give you HD DVR, You have take HD connection and replace it with HD DVR from nearest dealer.

And they were not able to tell me the nearest dealer or the differential amount I need to pay.

Do anyone have such experience with D2H?

Thats a new one i am hearing.... They were with me (in phone) on each step, when i applied for the connection..

I got almost similar reply again saying they wont sell HD-DVR directly. They offer only HD box and its my responsibility to exchange it with HD-DVR. Other option is that i can buy it from dealer directly.

Dealers are selling it on MRP so I have to drag TataSky HD until there is some good offer from D2H.

ok i have read this forum about 10times
but still have a big big Question
i get that Videocon d2h HD supports true 5.1 DD via spdif
and to connect it via spdif -->optical cable
or spdif -->spdif
BUT

which speakers support this spdif thing

my budget is low...i cant afford yamaha /onkyo AVR
max i can shell out is 5-8k for speakers
so is there any way i can connect spdif to some speakers at about 5-8k and get low but decent 5.1 surround DD ???

i am sorry if this is a stupid Q but spdif thing is confusing..!:sad:

Some entry level Philips, Samsung and Sony HTs have SPDIF input. But they too are above your budget. Ensure that both your STB and HT has the same type of digital connection.

Can you be more specific and mention some models??

secondly, regarding same digital connection, what is the connection name?

i have speaker like F&D f6000 in my mind...

would it be suffice?

and i heard some digital-->analog converter may help in my case..

is it true? then i can purchase 5000rs speakers and 3000 rs converter...but do these give true/simulated DD?? are they worth>? if yes/no give me some link for these converters...

btw Thank You for prompt replyyy m new to this forum:yahoo::licklips:
