Vintage audio gear electronically offered superb performance for the money.
Today we have to pay huge amount of money to get the same performance.
The level of audio quality & the electronics inside were such that these equipment are still being sold today.

If you love the true Hi-Fi sound, you should own one of these gears.
Silver Era period were distinguished by their brushed aluminum front panels, solid machined aluminum knobs, pushbuttons toggle switches, big vu meters and beautiful walnut veneers and with 40 RMS, it sounds HUGE & CLEAN.

Today we are disappointed with the state of Hi-Fi design. Vintage audio equipment had real knobs you could grab hold of, and knobs milled from a solid
chunk of metal instead of some fragile piece of plastic with a bunch of LED?s stuck. All these amps had good phono stage and there is no need for an equaliser to boost frequencies and sounds clean.

Some of the reference links for Vintage Audio:

Do we have vintage audio gear lovers in this forum?

Great Links...

Thanks for brining this up in the forum. I get nostalgic when I think about the first time I bought a Technics 3 head cassete deck!!!

Good old days when one could tweak the bias in the cassette deck to suit ones ears.

I am a big Vintage audio fan. Spent my childhood desperately desiring to own all the lovely stuff that I read in the HiFi magazines sold on the pavements (they used to be typically 10 years old then). There was no internet...Remember all those ads and reviews of Technics, Sansui, Quad, Akai, Garrard, Linn, Meridien....

Lot later, when I started earning money for myself, started buying quite a bit of stuff that I desired. Have Technics, Akai, Quad, Thorens, Dual and other vintage audio.

Regularly surf Ebay for things that interest me.

Cheers

I'm a fan of vintage gear and possess a 16 year old
Bryston integrated B-60R + B&W DM 4 (1972)
And these are the ingredients for sweet and mellow music;)

Thats another 4 years for warranty to expire isn't it?

Why don't you demo Viren's preamp to enhance the sound - your system will sound fresh and new and may solve your recent requirements for change in sound ..

Tubes will add more vintage sound to your vintage amps :)

Cheers

I think he has tried it. However, what he expects from his system is better bass, so everything else is secondary :)
