Friends,

I have a BSNL connection with their wired modem and a Pronet 54WRT wireless router.
I have recently tried to connect my TS HD+ STB to the internet in wired format. The STB could not connect when running the wire from the router's port but could connect from the modem's port. Now, the modem has only one port and thus I will need to plug in / plug out each time I want to use the VOD.

Any suggestions to overcome this in the present set-up?

I would be willing to change the internet hardware to a modem/router combo if this is required. Would like to have hardware suggestions here too.
Was also wondering, if I use a switch at the STB end for connecting to STB, TV, future BD player, would it have the same problem all over again?

Further to earlier:

The router ports are working with my laptop (I have switched off the laptop wifi to check this) and I have tried all ports on the router.

I have also called over the local TS technician and he was unable to help. Though, I was not very convinced of his ability.

Buy any cheap 4-port wifi router. Plug the LAN of you current modem to the WAN of the new router. On the new router, configure DHCP to automatically give out IP address, make sure they are in separate network range. e.g. if your main modem gives out 192.168.0.X range, then the new router should be giving out 192.168.1.x series.
Connect TS to the new router. this should work. Also this should work for 3 more devices + anything else you may want to connect over wifi.
