Wall mount speakers for HT for a 20x30ft room

Room size - 20x30ft
seating - 14ft from front wall.
Application - 100% home theater.
budget - not yet decided, so open for now

I want to wall mount speakers at a height of about 7-8 ft on front walls to keep the floor space free (most probably maggies would take that space).

I hope wall mounts shall give some space between the wall and the speaker.

Will a MTM be a better option than a single woofer bookshelf given the room size?

^ Even that would fall short of expectations. Only FS here @ 30'x20'. Amp selection to drive the selected speakers would be a greater headache.

there shall be subwoofer(s) to support the bookshelves. The room also has stairs - so there is a 2 storey high opening at the other end of the room.

Hmm, interesting situation. The way I see it, since floorstanders are out so you cant solve this problem with brute force (big speakers). Also at higher SPL, most speakers tend to get shouty in a large room.

See if you can get a pair of horn loaded speakers - so the throw is longer. Also, plan the viewing position such that you are within 15-17 ft max. I maybe wrong though.

Option 1: Speakers on stands near your seating position with wiring under carpet.
Option 2: Ceiling hung speakers. Check out Elipson Planet M. Available from FX Entertainment, Chanakyapuri.

Horn Wall mounted --> brilliant idea! sound type may differ from rest of the system.

How about this - RB - 81 II Bookshelf Speaker | Klipsch - can this be wall mounted?
Just read some articles on web and they can be wall mounted. However, seems they are not available in stock or for demo in delhi.

Give Mirage speakers a listen,their omnipolar speakers can fill big rooms with ease....at least mine....but then it also depends on yr taste n kind of SQ u re expecting in such a big room......HT - a set on Flickr
