Have been playing my PS3 Slim on my Samsung 46" LCD fopr the last couple of weeks....but today, when i turned ON the TV, no display- just black screen.Tried resetting the console, but problem prevails.TV identifies the input, but screen goes all black right afterwards.

Connection: HDMI for display directly to TV, audio via component through AVR.

What all i tried:
Connecting PS3 to another HDMI port on the LCD : Failure

Connecting the same HDMI cable from PC to same LCD HDMI port : Success

Connecting PS3 to 21 inch CRT via component: Success

Connecting PS3 to 50 inch Samsung Plasma via same HDMI cable: Success

Plz help me with all things i could try to get this solved....Thanx a million in advance.

I have experienced flickering with HDMI cable that worked well when connected with DVD player.
My problem resolved after I changed HDMI cable. PS3 HDMI port is not a perfect fit for any standard HDMI cables.

With the PS3 in stand by mode Press and hold the power button for 5 secs.. (until you hear the second beep) this cause the PS3 to reset the display properties back to 480i, then change to 1080p!

See if this solves your problem!

This seems to be similar to what i had though i had only one display. I think you might just need to have the cable replaced.
In my case the cable would also output 720P from some sources though they were already set at 1080p with a true 1080p source(blu-ray) and from some at 1080p(pc)

Thanx EVERYONE who helped me!!!!!! Its solved.....wait....BY JUST POWER CYCLING THE TV!!! All i had to do was pull out the TV power cord form the socket, reinsert after 10 seconds and voila! it detected the console in a jiffy.I had turned off the display multiple times in between while troubleshooting, but it was via remote control.

I 'suppose' the problem was HDMI Handshake protocol in the TV and when powered off, it got reset and started anew.

All's well that ends well......thanx a million for all the kind helping comments.GOD BLESS U ALL!!!

From the facts stated by the OP, it is amply clear that neither the HDMI cable nor the port are creating the problem.
